Global Warming Hitting Home

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Less than six months after Dick Cheney lost his power position in Washington D.C., federal scientists have re-gained their freedom of speech. Today a report by more than thirty tops federal researchers spells out just how bad global warming will get in the U.S. It isn't pretty.

An average temperature rise of ten degrees, possibly more. Kansas to have 120 days annually of 90 degree temps. Radical changes in rainfall and storm patterns. Here's a summary of the NOAA report. Greenpace quickly called for action to head off some of the avoidable effects.
The report makes it clear that water will become more precious than even a stock portfolio.

You can read NOAA's full report here.

As the head of NASA's Weather and Climate Research Program from 1982 to 1994, John Theon was James Hansen's supervisor. Theon says that Hansen's testimony in 1988 was "a huge embarrassment" to NASA, and he remains skeptical of Hansen's predictions. "I don't have much faith in the models," Theon says, pointing to the "huge uncertainty in the role clouds play." Theon describes Hansen as a "nice, likeable fellow," but worries "he's been overcome by his belief--almost religious--that he's going to save the world."

Hansen's been crying wolf for 20 years, and he's Al Gore's and the IPCC's main source.

roflmao..

ok here goes: now why oh why with all the ice on earth now obviously completely melted due to such a mysterious rise of ten whole degrees of temperature would one, there be a shortage of water anywhere on earth, and two, would there be any sun at all getting through all that cloud cover that would have to be present?

Did any of these scientists make predictions in the year 2000 about what would happen over the next ten years?

Did they predict that the earth's air temperature would stop rising, and remain below the level of 1998?
Did they predict that the global sea ice would remain in its normal range? Did they predict that the oceans would stop warming, and that the rate of measured sea level rise would slow, rather than accelerate? Did they predict that the sun would enter an unusually quiet phase, where it is now? What is the scorecard on the past predictions of this group of scientists? What credible forecasts did they make ten years ago?
