Going Smart on a Budget

Posted: 09/27/2012 9:07 am

As teenagers, we're not all six-figure earners. Generally, we don't have the ability to go and spend hundreds of dollars on a new smartphone because we simply don't earn that money. Although many teenagers have jobs, we have a limit on our spending and sometimes we rely on our parents for money. So what happens if you don't have $500 to spend on the latest smartphone? I know when it comes to phone-buying time, I think it's a truly awesome experience. I adore looking and shopping for phones -- although that's sad, it's true! Today's post is something that may help many people. I'm going to round up four of the hottest budget devices on the market today. Every phone on the list is a smartphone and many run android! I've made sure that all devices are available internationally, and if you need any future help on budget phone buying, please contact me on Twitter -- it'd be my pleasure!

  • Alcatel One Touch 916

This phone is for sure a sneaky little budget device. Alcatel produce some truly amazing phones that work like a charm. I had a One Touch 980 -- it was a beast, fast, cheap and visually pleasing. The 916 packs android 2.3, a 3.2 megapixel camera, all your social networking apps pre-installed, a 600 MHz processor and a beautiful 2.6’ touchscreen. It also packs a qwerty keyboard for easy texting.

  • Huawei Ascend G300

Budget devices don’t have to be small. The Huawei Ascend G300 packs a beautiful 4” screen, android gingerbread with a potential ICS update and all the goodness of the Google experience. Around the back of the phone, you have a 5 MP camera, and inside you have a 1 GHz processor -- cheap, cheerful and fully equipped. My sister has this device and considers it better than the iPhone, but I question that statement.

  • LG Optimus L3

I maybe beginning to bore you with budget android handsets, but I promise that reading this post is completely worth your time. The visually orgasmic phone you see above is the LG Optimus L3. If you’re looking for a dinky smartphone and you’re on a budget, it's probably best you take a look at this. Like all the phones featured, it packs android and 3G, and you also have a snappy 800MHZ processor that makes the mobile experience amazingly great. Plus, there's a 3.2 MegaPixel camera and 3.2” screen. A great phone for any teenager.

  • Nokia Lumia 710

Wow, something that isn’t android! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is the Nokia Lumia 710, a phone that packs a 3.7" screen. And with a lighting quick 1.4 GHZ processor, this phone moves faster than Usain Bolt. You also get all the joys of the marketplace, which allows you to download all your favorite games. It's like having a laptop in your pocket! And you could be the next big photographer with a 5 MP camera or the next big vlogger with its 720P video recording.
