A Democratic Post-Katrina Agenda? Maybe

I asked in this space months ago for the name of one elected Democrat not from the Katrina disaster zone who had spoken out, forcefully and repeatedly, on the issues of the disaster--not just the response, but the causes. Nobody took the bait, for good reason: there were no such Dems.

Now, according to Friday's Times-Picayune, come two Dems from the disaster zone who've put an interesting card on the table: their wish list of corrective legislative responses should the Dems win control of the Congress. If, like me, you've been looking for a reason to root for that outcome--other than hoping for some great hearings--this list might be interesting.

It might be even more interesting to ask your local Dem congressional/Senatorial candidate how he/she stands on this agenda.
