New Orleans News: We Sit on It Til It Hatches

It's never too late for the mainstream news media to discover what's going on outside New York.

Regular readers to this space may have despaired of my repeated posts on the subject of the paltry sums dispensed by the "Road Home" program to compensate New Orleans homeowners for the damage inflicted by the federally caused floods, and on the subject of the mental health crisis in the city.
Well, it's never too late for the mainstream news media to discover what's going on outside New York. Saturday's NYT front-paged a piece about the Road Home's slow-walking of funds to homeowners, while Friday's USA Today prominently featured an AP story on the mental health situation. At this rate, those papers will discover the appalling lack of any program of aid to the pre-Katrina renters of New Orleans around the time of the next NBA All-Star game.
