Yes, it's just me that has a case against the US Army of Engineers for their role in drowning New Orleans. Me and the scientists who have reviewed the Corps mea kinda culpa from last summer. Thursday's Times-Picayune reports that an "elite science and engineering panel" reviewing the Corps' massive document has forced the agency to recant significant parts of it,

including statements in a draft report released five months ago purporting that there was no evidence of negligence or malfeasance by the corps or its contractors.

In the most genteel and restrained language, the elite panel seems to kind of tiptoe arround suggesting that what was advertised as a clean breast of things may have the whiff of the cover-up around it. The Corps' response: it was hard, with just a nine-month deadline, to get the wording really, really right, and they're working on the rewrite now. Guys, this isn't a movie, this is a real disaster you're working on.
