...in the person of Mike Davis, whose long take, "Who Is Killing New Orleans?", was recommended reading by at least one commenter to a previous thread here about the city. Having just read it, I have to say that Davis shares at least one foible with the folks in the early post-Katrina days on CNN: he can't figure out the city's geography:

...the current population of New Orleans on the west bank of the Mississippi is about the same as that of Disney World on a normal day.

Not even. The West Bank is Algiers, and not much more. It couldn't fill Goofy's house. Most of the city sits on the east bank. I kept reading, but somehow the trust factor was ebbing away...
