Maybe the most poignant story to come out of the David Vitter-prostitution affair is this one from today's T-P. Shockingly, if you read most American papers, the key fact is in the lede:

Jeanette Maier, the madam known for operating a high-end brothel with her mother and daughter, said Tuesday that U.S. Sen. David Vitter made occasional visits to her business beginning in the mid-1990s after the two met at a fishing rodeo where she and her prostitutes were hired to entertain local politicians.

Read the whole thing for Maier's endorsement of Vitter's character, and of his role in trying to aid the recovery of the city. But go back to that paragraph, and make note of how Vitter really does support family values: the brothel he patronized was run by Maier, her mother and her daughter.
