Inspiration in Art

When I watch Bush and Cheney on television, I don't get angry -- I get inspired. So for all your lies, un-patriotic deceptions and criminal actions, I thank you!

Who says we don't love Bush? Countless Americans (and I'm not talking about the rich) have benefited from his wit, his sense of decency and his brilliance -- excuse me while I throw up -- ah, better now.

One only has to think of Lewis Black, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Jay Leno and David Letterman, to name a few, to understand the contributions that Bush and his administration have made to their careers and our culture. On television, South Park and the new Little Bush are also beneficiaries. And where would the Fox Network, Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh be without Bush and his cronies???? Don't forget about the scores of author's and political cartoonists that are thriving because of this administration. The end of Bush's reign will bring in a new and unprecedented, soaring rate of "entertainment" unemployment.

But let's not get too caught up in the jocularity of this administration. There have been enough scandals for the Franklin Mint to come out with a limited edition plate collection for years and years. Let's see.there's been voter and election fraud, health care, Scooter Libby, the outing of Valerie Plame, FEAR and PARANOIA, Tom Delay, Mark Foley, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Donald H. Rumsfeld and the Justice Department fiasco, Peter Pace, Republican Sen. Ted Stevens, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo, Karl Rove, the cover up of Pat Tillman, our country's future and the rewriting of the Constitution, parts of New Orleans that still look like a 4th world nation, untold lives lost in Iraq -- not to mention our standing in the world. I could go on for days and days and days.

But we can still celebrate our democratic way of life, the rights afforded us in our constitution and our freedom to live without fear in the pursuit of happiness. OH! But wait ... didn't he do away with Habeas Corpus and didn't he "legally" start domestic spying on all of his fellow Americans. Doesn't he label anyone who disagrees with him and dares to speak out against his policies and decisions as un-American and un-Patriotic? Doesn't he call us traitors? Indeed, his term of office is defined by the constant state of fear he hopes to instill in his fellow Americans.

He espouses family values.but where are his children? For the past six years I have never seen them together in any family photo-op. Not on Thanksgiving. Not on Christmas. Not on Birthdays.

But I do owe Bush a debt of gratitude. Now when I can't decide what color car to buy, what clothes to wear, who should I marry, what church to attend or what to eat for dinner I know I can call Bush, because "He's the Decider". And he has given me a new direction in my life's work. My art HarveyEdwards.com has gone from dance, music, still life, country and fashion to politics. Now when I watch Bush and Cheney on television, I don't get angry -- I get inspired. So for all your lies, un-patriotic deceptions and criminal actions, I thank you! From my archives, here is the very first poster you inspired!!! This Image may seem too real but the truth always comes out in the end......
