The Legacy Continues

A McCain-Palin ticket will continue the policies of Bush and will put our country in harm's way which will be detrimental to our life, liberty and the pursuit of hope for a safe future.

Yes, we all know the legacy of destruction that Bush and his administration has bequeathed to our children. The most horrific problem facing our country's history is the financial collapse caused by the Republican conservative agenda of deregulation.

McCain stated recently that the economy is basically sound while Wall Street is crumbling. Actually, McCain is the poster boy for deregulation since the Keating 5 when he was officially sanctioned by Congress. Now McCain has flip-flopped and is asking for regulation and blaming this whole financial crisis on Obama who has been asking for regulation and government oversights since he was elected senator. McCain said he was suspending his campaign (which he didn't actually do) to "help solve this problem" only to make it worse which, of course, failed because of his fellow Republicans. McCain wanted Social Security to be deregulated just like Wall Street. Where would we be now if people listened to him?? McCain is a leader who cannot lead.

McCain has been a senator for twenty-six years, is seventy-two years old and has voted 90% of the time with George Bush. McCain blatantly lies and distorts the truth. He has flip-flopped so many times you need a score card to keep track. McCain likes to call Obama an elitist because he went to an Ivy League school but it's McCain who married into wealth, who owns seven homes and thirteen cars, yes thirteen, three of which are foreign. How can he ever relate to the average American?? Michelle and Barack Obama came from humble backgrounds and worked and struggled their way to the position they so rightly deserve. Obama truly understands the back bone of this country -- The American Worker.

McCain may be a "war hero" but there are thousands upon thousands of others in the armed forces, some of whom have also been POW's, who have been severely wounded, crippled for life, both physically and emotionally who have served their country with honor and dignity and who have saved the lives of their fellow soldiers. However, they do not pontificate on a daily basis and use that experience to solicit sympathy for their gain. McCain wants us to stay in Iraq for 100 more years and Palin, because of her "expertise in foreign affairs," wants to declare war on Russia if they invade Georgia.

And why won't McCain let Palin speak openly to the press? Why are McCain's people in Alaska trying to disrupt the investigation into Troopergate? If you have nothing to hide then let's learn the truth but Palin is sure acting as if she has something to hide and McCain is sure helping her.

Palin said she would cooperate with any investigation into Troopergate, but here we go again, she flip-flopped and now says that her husband and anyone in her administration who received a subpoena will not cooperate. I know if I were served with a subpoena and did not comply with the judge's order, you betcha I'd be behind bars. Sounds like Bush all over again. She says she has foreign affairs experience because Russia is so very, very close to Alaska yet just this year she received her first passport and had never met with any heads of state. By her way of thinking, every governor in a state that borders Canada or Mexia is a foreign affairs expert. She says she supports women's rights but rape victims in Wasilla, when she was Mayor, had to buy their own rape kits. First she supported the bridge to nowhere, then when congress said no, she said she didn't support it anymore but said "I'll keep the money anyway" and build a road to nowhere instead (you can only see it from the air). She wants us to believe she's "one of us" but puts herself, her husband and others in her administration above the law when she informs all those involved in Troopergate to refuse to cooperate with the subpoenas. She has contempt for the rules and has an elitist attitude. They change the laws (like Bush) to suit themselves. Does this make them mavericks or just criminals???

Both McCain and Palin say they are against lobbyists, yet McCain has hired many of them to work as a part of his campaign staff. Palin is the only governor of Alaska to ever hire a lobbyist. Palin has extreme views, is cluless about Washington, is secretive, and she hired friends who may not be qualified for the positions they were hired for. She wants the office of the Vice President broadened a la Cheney.

She was mayor of a town no bigger than any small rural town of only about 6,000 people and after two years left it 20 million dollars in debt. This does not qualify her to be Vice President, or heaven forbid, President. Being an outsider doesn't make you a maverick; it makes you ill equipped to navigate the muddy waters that has become Washington. When your own running mate doesn't trust or believe in you enough to tell you that he is pulling out of Michigan, what does that say to the American people about your leadership qualities.

If you were Palin, wouldn't you be insulted at the way she is being used by McCain and his advisors? But then I don't think she is astute enough to realize that she is only John McCain's Barbie Doll Cheerleader. Talk about being sexist. She wears her high heels, tight pencil skirts, lipstick and flirts with America, winking at the camera every chance she gets.

The Republican party has spiraled down into muck-racking. When you accuse Obama of consorting with an American Terrorist, Bill Ayers, get your facts straight. Obama was eight years old. But Governor Palin, your husband was a 7 year member of the Independence Party, an organization that fervently believes in Alaska seceding from America. This year you spoke, again, at their convention. Now, who's un-American??? When Palin is introduced by an officer of the law, in uniform, it leaves a lasting and ominous impression especially given the tone and mood of McCain's and Palin's rally that followed. It is also illegal. When McCain and Palin whip a crowd into a frenzy by repeating the phrase, "Whose Obama?, Who's Obama?" it sounds scarily like a lynch mob; figuratively and emotionally. It is morally, ethically wrong and it's repugnant. With all the ills facing this country right now there is something insidiously wrong with a campaign, with a party, with candidates when this is all that they have left to talk about.

We are guaranteed that a McCain-Palin ticket will continue the policies of Bush and the belief that "Big Brother" should be watching you. They will put our country in harm's way which will be detrimental to our life, liberty and the pursuit of hope for a safe future.

Now we must move forward and restore our faith in this country and our standing in the world. It would seem that the best way to attain that goal is to record the truth and not repeat the past.
