I recently dropped by one of my favorite eco boutiques in LA, Visionary, for the Mr. Larkin Trunk show- nearly knocked me out of my heels. Mr. Larkin blends the lines between eco-friendly and fashion, there is not a trace of yoga pants in sight.

I spent some time with the mastermind behind Mr. Larkin and this is what I learned...

My story in a blurb...

Born in Oklahoma, grew up in TX, fashion school in TX, LA and overseas, toured w/ some bands, moved to Paris, moved back to LA, fell in love, moved to be w/ my heart in San Francisco, started Mr. Larkin. 3 sisters...bestfriends. Mama is our idol. She had a tee company and designed for Neimans in the 80s, grandma (Nanaw) was a wedding dress maker...fashion runs in the blood I guess. Wanted to be a veterinarian but the only thing I was ever successful w/ was this...so I went w it. I believe in a sustainable lifestyle...so does Mr. Larkin.

5 words that describe my line...

Wearable, unique, sustainable, pretty, feminine yet edgy...oh wait thats 7;)

Do's and Don't...

Do's: be a good friend, love your mother, go see live music, do more than recycle, always wear one piece of vintage and have fun at least 3 times a week.

Don't: lie about your age, be someone your not, be lazy about going 'green', listen to the media, hold grudges

New and upcoming eco-designers...

Moth Love, Royal Blush bags..AMAZING she is out of Switzerland, Mociun (my fav), and the girls from Beklina are starting a line that is fantastic!

My favorite material of the moment...

Well more so a fiber, but it is Milk fiber.

My biggest eco-sin...

I'm not a natural blonde, oh and I use Splenda, but come on, even my vodka's eco-friendly!

Inspirations...

My best friends, clutter and vintage of course.

If you walked into my closet, you would find...

A mess, but a great mess...vintage, Philip Lim, the color white and too many bags and shoes.

I am an eco-fashion designer because...

There is no reason not to be. I feel it is my personal responsibility...I am a designer first, but living a sustainable lifestyle is so important to me...so I design clothing that can easily be apart of that world...I try to keep that in mind when I design...we go to yoga, we go see shows, parties, events, lunch w friends, relaxing on the couch, good days, bad days...why not do it all in clothing that is locally made, for the environment and supports our future.

My top 3 eco-joints is San Francisco are...

A piece of advice for Obama...

There is billion dollar industry that could save our economy...it just needs to be legalized.
