Incredible Chefs Feed 20,000 Devastated New Yorkers

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the recent Nor'easter, we have seen an outpouring of people who are stepping up and helping others in need, much like the people of Mercy Chefs are doing throughout NY! Immediately after the hurricane hit, Mercy Chefs packed up food supplies and headed to the lower east side of Manhattan to provide hot meals to thousands of people without power or food. During the first few days, Mercy Chefs served nearly 20,000 people at each given meal time.

Mercy Chefs is an all-volunteer, non-profit based out of Portsmouth, VA that travels the country to feed people who are victims of natural disasters. Founder Gary LeBlanc and his team of volunteers have visited Lower Manhattan to serve those in the community without power, food and water. They are not only here to serve hot meals but also to encourage people and bring them together during a difficult time. As Leblanc says, "we come to feed body and we come to feed soul."
