For over twenty years she was an established Hollywood film and television producer. She was president of Roland Joffe's Warner Brothers company. A producing partner of John McTiernan and Donna Dubrow, a producing partner with Penny Marshall, and vice-president of production at Disney's Hollywood pictures.

Debbie graduated cum laude from Kenyon College.
She was married for over twenty-five years to film direct/writer/editor Hubert de La Bouillerie. She had two step children who she adored and mentored, Alexandre de La Bouillerie and Jacqueline de La Bouillerie.
