Arianna appeared on CNN's "Parker Spitzer" Monday night, taking on longtime conservative strategist Ralph Reed over the resurgent GOP's agenda heading into the next Congress.

"You know, Ralph, what is very sad, really, is that this 'new team' has not really proposed anything that would create jobs in this country," Arianna said. "You can't take the new team seriously if it's not proposing anything to fundamentally address what is happening to the middle class."

They have no new Ideas, they never have had.
09:46 AM on 11/03/2010
I kind of thought that extending tax cuts would spur job growth.
I also thought that cutting government spending would improve consumer confidence and spur growth.
I also thought that repealing Obamacare would reduce the strain on employers and create growth.

I also thought that sometimes a new team is better than the current losing team.

We are in those tax cuts, THEY DON"T WORK
cutting gov. spending is not going to spur the economy, creating jobs costs money
HCR allows small businesses to buy into health care pools, while receiving tax cuts, it will reduce the deficit, while keeping health premiums avail, health insurance rates have risen 120% over the last decade.

They haven't proposed any new ideas because they don't have any. Their only plan is to keep Obama from being successful at anything so he won't have a platform to run and win in 2012. They have stated this repeatedly.
09:26 AM on 11/03/2010
Sorry I think Paul Ryan has proposed many new ideas.

You've thought wrongly.

Oh, Yea. Another tax for the average American while letting the rich get richer. VAT just double downs on those that have to buy things with their limited funds.

Reps will create bubble burst repeat, as banks will operate unrestricted by any oversight. Although the spineless current admin, really did very little.

Even Arianna is missing the point.
The people did NOT elect Repubs, they UNELECTED Dems.

I am afriad that we have lost again. I voted for Obama and high hopes for him and much as I like his intelligence and his dreams i think he has been a disaster. The health bill was a horrible mistake. We need a sensible health care plan and we got chaos and a bill that will play into the hands of the corporations. The passing of this bill was declared to show how much power and force Obama had but what it really showed is that the Democrats controlling both houses could not pass a sensible bill. I have no faith in the republicans things are going to get worse but the democrats have shown that they have no positions and that most of them are nothing but republicans. The country is in the hands of an oligarchy that will not let loose of the power. It controls the supreme court and the tea party and the republican party and the democrats are just plain lost.

It is time for a meaningful third party one that has principals and will stand up to those principals and is not owned by the new robber barons. Obama must find his back bone he must project strength he must stand up for his principals or he must stand down. We have placed ourselves in the hands of a party that the believes only in the second amendment, that values corporations more than it does real people .

Third parties don't work in the kind of system of elections that we have. Give it up. It's a structural issue.

Who needs new ideas, when tax cuts for the most wealthy Americans always leads to increased tax revenue? Who needs new ideas, when increased military spending always gets us out of debt? Who needs new ideas, when oppressing homosexuals always makes baby Jesus giggle?

As I contemplate this evening before I go to bed , I think that what is burning me up the most at this moment is the fact that this is the second time in the last ten years that the Supreme Court has really damaged our democracy. The first time was in the 2000 election in the horrible Bush vs Gore ruling which stated quote unquote " this not ment to be used as a precedent" and then this year in the Citizens United ruling. Right now alot of republicans think the "Citizens" decision was terrific but only because it wasn't used against you. Next it could be you. The concept of secret untraceable money brings up memories of Watergate and I hate to say this but I think that the watergate scandal was a walk in the part compared to where "Citizen's" is taking this!!!

What should really bug you is that you are helpless in the face of all this. And you ARE. There are not enough "progressives" to mount a credible Tea Party from the left.

Propose new ideas? You have to have new ideas in order to propose them. I have spent this evening watching republican after Republican do what their tea party breathren have been doing for months , dodge the serious questions. Well now that they'll be in charge , reality is about to hit the voters and the republicans. The party's over!

This will open the door to a "President Obama" second term when the people see what the Republicans can and can not do for them. In two years, we'll be saying,"How's that Republican thingy workin for ya huh?"
12:11 AM on 11/03/2010
Why would a second term for Obama be any different? His moment has passed. He wasted it pre-compromising every policy, continuing the wars, flipping off the gays and immigrants, vacationing every month, and playing golf every day. He thought the repubs had all the great ideas in the 80s and 90s, so let's see what he thinks of them in two years after they spend every hour trying to ruin him personally and financially. The guy wasn't up to the job, period. Maybe we can get a REAL democrat to run in 2012?

However, it can't be any worse that Obama and his economic advisors. 25 million Americans are still out of work and losing their homes and farms and life savings. We needed to do something!

"We needed to do something!"

So you put the party that destroyed the country back in power. I'm so amazed at those who go against their own interest. The USA gave the previous adminstration 8 years to bring down the USA and you're mad because our intelligent, awesome president didn't fix the massive problems in 2 years. One day you're going to find out that the president wasn't against us, but for us. I can't wait to see the looks on everyones faces who went out of their way to make it a referendum against our president. That day will come. Before I go, read the headline again and again until it sinks in. Good day.

Every time I sign into Facebook I got another friend talking about finally getting a job....how things seem to be turning around. Which might have something to do with the 62% jump in corporate profits in the last 18 months.

But hey, lets blame the politicians, since they are the ones laying people off right now, trying to make a smaller government. And remember the desire for a smaller government next time you are in line at a government office for 2hrs, wondering why there is only one person working there.
02:54 PM on 11/02/2010
This is going to be a laugh riot watching these Repubs fall all over each other....

They have (0) idea on how to govern, only how to scream and whine like spoiled toddlers being weaned from a pacifier...

When they fail and fail and fail like they have always done, who will they cry to??

They will destroy the country just like Bush did....

Too bad for good ol' "real America."
02:49 PM on 11/02/2010
"we need risk takers in washington" Is he for real????? It's amazing he is proposing what was done for 8 straight years. They give republicans in the house 6 years to F everything up and they give democrats in the house 2 years to fix it.... pretty fair.

I agree. It just isn't working. And the way they all cram around the table is annoying.

Bring back Tom Snyder!
