Arianna joined Ken Duberstein, a former White House chief of staff under Ronald Reagan, to discuss Mitt Romney's debate performance on CNBC Thursday morning.

According to Duberstein, Romney knocked it out of the ballpark.

"Is it a game-changer? We have to wait and see on that," he said, praising the GOP nominee for coming across as comfortable and confident. "A very strong first impression."

President Barack Obama looked like he was "having a root canal," he said.

But Arianna stressed that the strength of Romney's debate performance went beyond aesthetics.

"There was a fundamental case that Romney made, when he said that the proof of the failure of the economic policies of the Obama administration was in the fact that 50 percent of graduates cannot get jobs, that one in six Americans are living in poverty," she said.
