HuffPost Senior Politics Editor Howard Fineman appeared on MSNBC's "Hardball" Monday evening to discuss the apparent infighting between newly-elected tea party candidates and mainstream Republicans.

Senator-elect Rand Paul of Kentucky, for example, told Christiane Amanpour on ABC's "This Week" Sunday that he plans to vote against raising the federal government's debt ceiling, but acknowledged that he will lose that fight.

"I was amazed that Dr. Rand Paul, who's this supposed neophyte, who's coming from the wilds of Kentucky up here, unschooled in the ways of Washington, has already figured out the game," Fineman quipped to "Hardball" host Chris Matthews. "He's going to vote for it secure in the knowledge that most other people won't be crazy enough to vote for it."
