HuffPost's Editor Roy Sekoff Discusses Liz Cheney's New Group On The Ed Show (VIDEO)

HuffPost's Editor, Roy Sekoff, appeared on The Ed Show tonight to discuss the new group Liz Cheney has launched, Keep America Safe, which attempts to paint President Obama's foreign policy as "radical." "She's a chip off the old block," said Sekoff, "and I don't meant that as a compliment."

Sekoff noted that one of the first jobs Cheney had during her time at the Sate Department was when Donald Rumsfeld put her in charge of facilitating the political transition in Iraq after the invasion. "We remember how well that turned out: utter chaos."

Cheney's new group is in fact nothing new at all, said Sekoff. "We've seen this movie before: the fear-mongering, the demagoguery, and the willful misinformation."

The most powerful country is fighting the poorest country in the world. If America can help Afghanistan people improve their living standard, it is possible to win the war.

Yeah, she's scary. Still, what's scarier is that she and others like her - Beck, Rush, etc - has platform surrounded by eager listeners.

Ah Yes, any time someone dislikes or disagrees with something the Administration or anyone on the left says, they trot out the old, faithful chestnut, "Why do you fear {fill in the blank}?"

It's old, it's stale, it lacks imagination and it's just plain projection.

She is the one who is displaying the fear by refusing to come on a show that won't echo her distorted views/sentiments.

Question for Liz Cheney (and big Dick): when did fighting an unnecessary war EVER help to keep a country safe?

Liz Cheney should call her new organization by the name she originally came up with:

DEFEND MY DADDY AND KEEP HIM OUT OF JAIL.

Since, that is all this organization is really being set up to do. Spread lies and push public sentiment to the point where a Dick Cheney prosecution becomes untenable.

Forunately for her, her advisers told her that wouldn't fly, so they reverted to the tried and true tactic of wrapping oneself in the American flag. Hence, Defend America was born.

In a way, forming this organization might be a good sign. Could it be that Dick Cheney thinks that an investigation into his illegal activities is imminent or may happen within the next 12 months? One can only hope!

PS, Chris also pointed out how all these hawkish neo-cons never served in the military.

Are there any sane republican/conservative voters out there tired of this fearmongering? Aren't you guys tired of the same boogiemen they try to scare you with constantly? It seems as if they want you to be fearful 24/7/365(keep clinging to those g_ns) and angry at anyone three shades darker darker than you.

That is NOT the real world. That is not a life worth living.

Ok, I have a question. There are a lot of comments on here cocerning the fact that neither Liz or Dick Cheney served in the military. So when did Obama serve? I must have missed that.
I don't think we can know yet whether or not this country is any less safe than it has been, but it would be horrible to find out the hard way. I see that Obama does pay attention to a lot of the policies that were put into place to defend us and I am glad to see that he is keeping the most important ones, which leads me to beleive he is getting information that makes him think that that is the right decision.
I don't beleive in running her down simply because she is concerned about our nation's safety.
Some of you just hear the name Cheney and start running off at the mouth.

With all due respect, Obama to date is keeping us safer than Bush. Obama's administration, without torture, has uncovered and indicted suspected terrorists in the country. Bush, on the hand, in office about the same amount of time, was clueless regarding Al Queda resulting in 9/11!!! Then he attacked the wrong country allowing for Al Queda to regroup and thereby making us unsafe because now they are everywhere. In the meantime, Bin Laden is alive and well and sending us videos!! No. The world recognizes we now have a leader who is brighter and saner than Bush which is how he got the Nobel Peace Prize - for not being a Republican or Bush. In the meantime we almost suffered a complete economic collapse because of Bush's incompetence, Reagan's trickle down economics, cronyism and deregulation these last eight years. Most Americans know how close the Republicans during the last eight years damn near brought this country to it's knees but it is the 30% ditto heads like yourself that cannot face reality.

You're technically right, however, Dick Cheney got 5 deferments so he didn't have to go to Vietnam!!! President Obama didn't want the war in Iraq, these war mongers wanted it, as well as, a war with Iran....I won't even go into Bush who had his Daddy keep him out of war by getting him into the reserves (where he hardly ever showed up!!)

OBAMA IS NOT TORTURING or starting 5 wars or illegally spying on us or handing out NO BID CONTRACTS to Biden's ex employer to profit from the wars. War is a GROWTH INDUSTRY to the gop. The scare us into thinking we need to be at war with some one at all times. Obama will change the bush policies slowly so you won't assassinate him in the first year. As with most in your party Liz is a spoiled rich kid. What has she accomplished in life to put her in the public spotlight? She has not earned the right to speak to our country or about our president and just like meghan mccain being some bodies daughter is not a qualification for a spokesman. The fact that the gop lets her speak shows how little they respect the working world. We are just cattle for the slaughter to them.

Her "Defend America" screeching would be more believable if she and he father had bothered themselves to join one the branches of the military. They're both like John Wayne, who served in the movies.

Too bad all the repugs have is fear mongering and rhetoric. Maybe someday they will have a new idea.. I love a battle of ideas but the repugs shoot blanks since they never let facts get in their ideological way..

Intelligence is no indicator of quality thought.
Is there any question that failing to indict these waterboarders only makes them stranger, stronger and more insufferable for us.
The progeny of failures and fascists feel it their duty to make better what daddy only stabbed at.
Liz Cheney acts like an automatron that her dad has programmed. He must be proud.
He should be jailed, at least.

Liz is a very bright, outstanding person.
Let's wait and see how things go a little before we condemn her.
I'm sure that the responsibility for the Iraq political transition did not rest entirely on her shoulders.
I doubt ver much she was in a major decision making role on that.
I will say this, Mr. Sekoff at least addresses something of some substance instead os just demonizing her as a chip off the old block.

You do know that she believes that the USA should engage in war to keep USA safe.
Also, she believes in torturing other human beings to keep the USA safe. Oxymoron, huh?
Oxymoron, huh? War =safe Torture=safe

I am not condemning her but just stating the facts.

"Liz is a very bright, outstanding person."

She only reached this platform through blatant nepotism. She might be a contender on the political stage, but she will never obtain a higher office. As for your wait and see approach, the verdict is already in; her legacy will forever be tied to the Bush/Cheney administration and rightfully so.

Faux facts from the faux news viewers. Ed was a nobody small time radio host a year ago and now he has a GREAT SHOW! He speaks for working American and every friday lets listeners pitch their businesses and give telephone #'s and internet site addresses for the businesses. I like a party that does POSITIVE THINGS. Going backwards or negative is NOT THE AMERICAN WAY. YOU AND YOUR PARTY ARE LOST IN THE WEEDS. ps. takes alot more than 2 million to win elections! Keep running off the Women, Black, Hispanic, White Sane people with educations and NON racists and see how many elections you can win.

How gullible can people be. The only differnece between Fox and MSNBC is their politics. Both are making millions feeding their audience what they want to hear. Everyone knows NBC is Obama's network. That's why he appears there more than any other network. No one on NBC is going to question his authority or give him a "hard" question. This is not journalism, this is nothing more than controlling what is in the news and NBC is falling in line with the WH.
