Huffington Post's Senior Congressional Reporter Ryan Grim appeared on "The Dylan Ratigan Show" Wednesday to explain where things stand on the financial reform bill as it moves through conference committee.

Grim told Ratigan that the aggressive derivatives overhaul put forward by Democratic Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln could potentially overcome a last-minute proposal by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and other House Democrats that would weaken the new regulations.

"At this point, as strange as it sounds, there is a real possibility that something strong could emerge," Grim said.

According to Grim, Sen. Lincoln, fresh from her primary victory over a Democratic challenger, is standing her ground and refusing to give in to new, weaker language.

Asked what voters could do to ensure that lawmakers pass Lincoln's amendment, Grim explained that House and Senate conferees are the ones with the power to keep or to drop tough derivatives reform from the final version of the bill.

Grim expects that the conference committee will decide on the proposed derivatives regulations sometime Wednesday or Thursday.
