BEIJING — Hungary has won a third consecutive gold medal in men's water polo.
Daniel Rudolf Varga and Peter Biros scored three goals apiece and the Hungarians beat the United States 14-10 in the final Sunday.
Hungary became the first country to win three straight gold medals in the sport since Britain in 1920.
The Americans, the surprise of the tournament, got back to the medal stand for the silver for the first time since 1988.
Hungary scored three times on counter attacks and also scored with a 6-on-4 advantage. It wasn't the kind of defense that got the Americans to the final.
Tony Azevedo led the Americans with four goals.
