SYDNEY — Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, are in Australia on a two-week tour of the Pacific.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall landed in the Outback Queensland town of Longreach on Monday following a visit to Papua New Guinea.

Dignitaries including Governor-General Quentin Bryce greeted the royal couple before they visited staff from the Royal Flying Doctor Service. They also watched a whip-cracking demonstration at the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame.

Prince Charles was presented with a six-foot leather whip of his own, while the Duchess of Cornwall cuddled an orphaned baby kangaroo.

They were cheered upon their arrival in Melbourne on Tuesday and visited a tapestry workshop.

The pair is scheduled to visit several cities across Australia and New Zealand before returning to the UK on Nov. 16. Their Pacific tour celebrates the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II,
