Technology stocks roared back Wednesday, driving the Standard & Poor's 500 index and the Dow Jones industrial average to record highs. The Dow had its biggest one-day gain in a month and has been up for three straight days.
The Dow rose 128.78 points, or 0.9 percent, to 14,802.24.
The S&P 500 rose 19.12 points, or 1.2 percent, to 1,567.73.
The Nasdaq composite gained 59.39 points, or 1.8 percent, to 3,297.25.

The Dow is up 236.99 points, or 1.6 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 34.45 points, or 2.2 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 93.39 points, or 2.9 percent
For the year:
The Dow is up 1,698.10 points, or 13 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 161.54 points, or 11.3 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 277.74 points, or 9.2 percent.
