NEW YORK — NEW YORK (AP) — Sales at Casey's General Stores Inc. rose in September from a year ago, the convenience store operator said Tuesday.
In stores open at least a year, the company said that sales of prepared food and fountain drinks rose 11 percent last month from a year ago and sales of groceries and other merchandise rose 9.2 percent.
Sales of gallons of gasoline sales rose 4.2 percent. The average price of gasoline sold in September was $3.43 per gallon, the company said.
Sales at stores open a year is considered an important indicator of financial performance as it strips away the impact of recently opened and closed stores, and measures growth at ongoing locations.
Casey's General Stores, which is based in Ankeny, Iowa, owns over 1,700 stores in the Midwest, mostly located in Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.
