THE INVESTIGATION: The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating complaints of brake problems in about 40,000 Hyundai Genesis luxury cars from the 2009 model year.
THE PROBLEM: Twenty-three drivers told NHTSA that they had to push harder than normal on the brake pedal to make the cars stop. Some said the pedal went all the way to the floor. One driver crashed into a stopped vehicle, while another had to use the parking brake to stop, sending the car into a spin. Some of the complaints said dealers had traced the problem to a faulty antilock brake computer.
THE SOLUTION: None yet. Investigators will determine if a recall is necessary.
