GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say shots fired on homecoming weekend at North Carolina A&T State University prompted a brief campus lockdown after a 21-year-old man was wounded by a bullet fired from a "considerable distance."
Greensboro Police Department said in a statement released overnight that "one or more" suspects fired shots near McCain Hall on campus about 10 p.m. Saturday and one of the rounds struck 21-year-old Devine Eatmon.
Authorities say they had given an incorrect spelling of the man's name earlier due to limited information previously available. Police say Eatmon was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be serious, but non-life-threatening wounds.
Police did not elaborate in their statement on whether anyone had been deliberately targeted. They say four male suspects, who had handguns, are being sought.
