WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Ethics Committee won't pursue investigations of two lawmakers for trips they took to Taiwan.

Illinois Republican Rep. Pete Roskam and New York Democratic Rep. Bill Owens had been referred to the committee by the outside Office of Congressional Ethics over allegations their trips were paid for improperly.

In a report released Friday, the House committee said Roskam and Owens had cooperated with its inquiry and that it was closing both cases.

According to the report, some information the committee needed wasn't accessible. But the report notes Owens has already repaid the cost of travel for himself and his wife. In Roskam's case, the report says there isn't sufficient evidence to show his travel to Taiwan with his wife was paid for improperly.
