TAYLORSVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Southern Pine Electric Power Association will return to its members $2.5 million in capital credits for the 2012 fiscal year.

Southern Pine general manager Donald L. Jordan says members who are owed $50 or more will begin receiving checks in December. Those owed less than $50 will receive a credit to their account. The allocation is based on the amount of electricity the member used in 2012.

Jordan says the money represents the amount remaining after all operating, maintenance and general expenses are deducted from the total amount members paid on the electric bill during the fiscal year.

Southern Pine, established in 1938, is the largest electric cooperative in Mississippi, with over 10,000 miles of line and more than 65,000 meters. It has more than 260 employees.
