HOUSTON (AP) — Ryan Villopoto led from start to finish and won his fourth AMA Supercross race of the season on Saturday night, beating Justin Barcia and Ken Roczen to extend his lead atop the standings.
Trey Canard was fourth, and followed by James Stewart, who is 45 points behind Villopoto in the standings with three races to go. Barcia made the podium for a third straight race.
Villopoto crashed in one of the early heats, but still qualified, then used a strong start in the final to put the field away.
"It was awesome tonight considering everything we had to overcome," Villopoto said. "With the start the way it was, I don't think I could have asked for anything more and it made my life easy."
Jason Anderson won the 250SX class race, giving him four wins in seven tries this season. Dean Wilson pressured him over the final two laps, but wasn't able to get by the points leader. Malcolm Stewart was third, followed by Cole Seely and Zach Osborne. Anderson leads Seely by 11 points in the season standings with two races to go.
This was the first 250SX class race since Feb. 8.
"It feels great to come back strong after such a long break. I'm super stoked to get the win," Anderson said. "We did a lot of work over the break and it paid off."
