At least 1,500 were also injured by the temblor.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 7 and was centered about 10 miles northeast of Acapulco.
The Caribbean nation's Civil Protection Agency also raised the number of injured people to 9,900 after Saturday's 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
One expert said Saturday's temblor was an aftershock of the devastating 2011 earthquake.
The quake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 7.1, shook buildings but no tsunami warning was issued.
More than 600 people were injured during the magnitude 6.2 quake, which sent people fleeing their homes in the darkness.
