Will Make a Bet on This Harvard Graduate for Future Mother of the Year: Natalie Portman

Posted: 03/ 5/11 10:26 AM ET

Mike Huckabee is obviously running for president. He would like to get into the news by attacking Natalie Portman. Why? Because she is engaged and pregnant and not married yet. And she won an Oscar this week. Hypocrisy? Bristol Palin out of wedlock giving birth to a child celebrates Republican values because she did not have an abortion. Natalie Portman pregnant somehow is threatening to the social fabric of America and would mean more "government assistance and children starving to death and never having health care."

Did he listen to Natalie's speech? She did not say according to Huckabee, who went on his campaign stop on Medveds radio show, "We're not married, but we're having these children, and they're doing just fine."

We were in the audience... my husband, his name sounds very close to the Michael Medved Show, Mike Medavoy, was one of the producers of Black Swan. We are certain she never said those words. In fact in her speech she said "I thank me parents first and foremost for giving me my life and my beautiful love Benjamin Millepied who has given me my most important role and my friends and family."

This is a time to celebrate Natalie and stand by her at this point in her career when she is so clear about the importance of becoming a mother, of giving her parents respect and gratitude for everything that they have given and taught her. For understanding that movie roles are an artistic expression, but that the role of being a parent is the blessing of a lifetime.

The one thing we can be certain of is that we are entering a new presidential campaign cycle soon in a few months.
