A controversy erupted today at the 140 Conference - #140conf - between old and newest media. Having started my first internet company in 1994 I am used to the old vs. new debate.

Three hundred digital dwellers are gathered at the New Theater in NYC to explore what is going on in what Jeff Hayzlett, CMO of Kodak called "the new mainstream media" in his talk here today.

Ann Curry of NBC and Rick Sanchez of CNN caused a stir today at the conference - the audience began shouting at various points. Curry implied that twitter was not the primary tool to gather content for reporting, but had its place. Members of the audience took issue with her opinion and jumped on it.

Sanchez for his part repeated his now often-heard statement that all the twitter and all the social media has made him "a better reporter."
