This is some doozy of an ad for John Cornyn of Texas for Senate. Rick Noriega (D) is running against Cornyn. I first thought this ad was a spoof made by the Noriega campaign. It is really an ad run by Cornyn - my favorite part is "six mo' " combining this odd Texas drawl rap with hip hop. Enjoy.

What the fu@k is wrong with Texas?
I'm old enough to remember the original "Big John"--a song about a coal miner who died on the job. If only Cornin had the credentials of a working-man. Instead he boasts about being from Texas, where "we do things quick"--and isn't the Texan in the White House a great advertisement for that? He gets things done quick--stupid but quick. I guess the quick is because he don't waste time thinking.
Fortunately we know what he's thinking. He's pro-the Iraqi war, anti-abortion, pro-gun, against the separation of church and state. He's your typical Far Right Winger, which in this era doesn't make him big or bad, just sad.
Hip-Hop? This is a classic country tune first performed by Jimmy Dean and also famously covered by Johnny Cash. No Hip-Hop here.
LOL! I certainly see why you first thought it was a spoof on Cornyn by Noriega. What a bunch of crap.
Oh, come on! I've got no great love for the great state of Texas or its politicians' pitiful need to be perceived as tough uncompromising cowboys--do they even realize how embarrassing this is?--but "Big John" with his soft hands and face bloated with baby fat and bourbon is an insult to every real Texan who actually works for a living. Especially the cowboys.
What pray tell is a lesser State? Who lives in those lesser States? Come on Big Bad John, pony up some answers here before you ride into the sunset.
Nah... just let the old fool walk on down to the unemployment office where he belongs.
A lesser state is one that is not Texas. Ever hear of Deleware toast, or Oregone Tea?
Lesser states squirm?
Lord's work for Texas?
Why should one state fear another? What sort of 'work' does 'the Lord' want done for Texas? How does 'Big Bad John' know what 'the Lord' wants at all?
Heh, bet he paid a pretty penny for that one.
Big Bad John? This is someone wanting to be a Senator......Bad John? Where does the Republican Party come up with these winners? What kind of water are they drinking in Texas? First they give us the Accidental President, picked by the Supreme Court and voter fraud, now they want Big Bad John.....go figure.
I wonder if they got permission to use the song?
"Keep Texas in power"? "Lesser states squirm"?
This sounds like bullying. And a bit of a superiority complex........
I know that punk Rhode Island hasn't had the guts to get anywhere near Texas for as long as I can remember.
If you've got a spare dollar or two, toss it Rick Noriega's way. Although he's behind Cornyn in the polls, he's getting closer each day.

What an embarrassment.
I am not from Texas - actually nowhere near - and this is so far removed from my reality. Looks like a Marlboro commercial to me.
Hip hop? This wasn't hip hop. It was s**tkicking poetry...which I'm not a huge fan of but I thought by the description, I was going to be assaulted with some actual rap, or hiphop juxtaposed with this guy. Very misleading, in my opinion, speaking as someone hailing from the Lone Star State.
You should be used to it by now.
Big John? I've always thought of him as Box Turtle Guy John.
I absolutely agree. I listened to this clip, watched it and felt sorry for the people in Texas who fell for this thug. The video is auful, the voice-over mindnumbing and, the message just depressing. Texas gave us George Bush. It is probably too much to expect them to boot Cornyn from the Senate. It would be such an improvement. Noriega is smart, articulate and approachable. Texas, be smart, get out of the dark ages.
