I saw a 20 second clip on Olberman which showed exactly what the problem was with hanging chads.
So why couldn't the media have done the same thing back in 2000? Why is Kevin Spacey so much smarter than ALL the Corporate Media combined?
This post is published on Why Tuesday? as well as OffTheBus.
This morning I went to the Grove in Los Angeles where HBO, promoting their new film RECOUNT, set up the actual Votomatic Florida voting machines used in the controversial 2000 Presidential Election, complete with butterfly ballots and hanging chads, so that people can judge for themselves whether they could have effectively cast their ballot. RECOUNT premieres May 25 on HBO. For more information about the state of America's voting system, click here.
Why Tuesday? is an effort to make America's democracy stronger through increased voter participation; we work to make election reform an issue that our politicians cannot afford to avoid. Read more campaign coverage from OffTheBus by clicking here.

The Media has been doing this kind of shoddy reporting since as far back as the Nixon administration. The very good at explaining perceived problems when the Democratic Party is in power, but seem to fail at reporting anything substantial at all when it is the Republicans turn.
I remember the Watergate hearings and how the media almost all but ignored them as a colossal waste of taxpayer"s money. They refused to explain what the hearings were really about, and the use them as an opportunity to attack the democrats for chasing windmill. If it weren"t for the effort of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein at The Washington Post, then Nixon might have completed his full second term.
And when the Florida recount was stopped midstream, the Media knew they could report the issue fairly if they wanted their GOP friends in office. They needed to confuse the issue more by vilifying the entire paper chad issue as some kind of sick joke the Democratic Party was playing on America. They didn"t want people to know the truth.
If you follow this link, it will take you to a video from Dan Rather Reports about the punch cards used in the 2000 election in Florida. It examines the role of the punch cards manufacture that purposefully used inferior grade paper to produce problem ballots for heavily Democratic favored counties.

Load the votes in a truck and haul them around the interstate too.
