The explosion of street art continued at a rapid pace this year, with a new generation of artists joining 30-year veterans in this ever-morphing ephemeral art movement. Every week we posted new stuff on "Images of the Week," and here are 50 images culled from the collection that stood out in 2010. Take a look and vote on your favorite.

As an oil painter myself (among other things), I do appreciate the craft and talent evident in many of these pieces. This is the way some of these street artists will graduate into becoming real artists who don't have to run when other people come to see their work being created.
(Finally, I do distinguish the quite valuable "street artist" from the common street annoyance and the bane of big cities like New York, the "tagger" who just wants to put their unintelligible mark in as many places as they can.)

Many people would say that some of these Street Artists have already graduated into becoming real artists, while others are still in development. What is equally significant to us is that it has become a diverse movement that short circuits the established route for an artist to take to gain an audience.
