Sheryl Crow and Laurie David are off on their Stop Global Warming College Tour this morning, two weeks on a bus, visiting college campuses and continuing to raise awareness for their crusade. (By the way, I totally agree with the observer who wrote that Laurie David has done more single-handedly to bring the issue of Global Warming to the forefront in America than any other person, including Vice President Gore.)
So while they are traveling from Texas to Washington, D.C. on their bio-diesel bus, on a tour that will culminate in an Earth Day concert in D.C., here are a few things we can do to virtually join them on their journey.
First, stop by the tour's official website, graciously sponsored by MSN. This site has smart simple ways we can help stop global warming every day. The site is www.stopglobalwarming.msn.com. One very simple thing to do is add your name to the list of virtual marchers, people who have committed to engaging in crusade to stop global warming. (Currently, the total is 690,484 - can we hit a million by Earth Day?)
Next, if you're wondering why right now it's because the predictions are becoming more and more accurate, and more and more frightening. Here's here is a New York Times article"an article we all ought to read.
For those of you who live in Texas and Louisiana, here's the schedule for the next couple of days.
Monday 4/9: Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas, Texas, McFarlin Auditorium, 8pmTuesday 4/10: Texas A&M, College Station, Texas, Rudder Arena, 7:30pm
Wednesday 4/11: Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, LSU Union Theater, 7:30pm
The fact that the tour kicks off at SMU where President Bush wants to put his Presidential Library by the way, shows that these two women are not only passionate, committed and beautiful but that they understand the meaning of the word irony.
I'll be posting frequently on the tour as it progresses - and as we watch the Virtual Marchers total rise.
