The election of Barack Obama in 2008 has seen a closeted racist movement emerge from the grassroots' of the Republican Party -- by no means is this representative of the entire Repubican Party but the militant attacks are evidence of the accelerated change in U.S. political discourse, highlighting the enormous divide between Blue and Red in U.S. politics.
When John McCain was running against Barack Obama in the 2008 election it was apparent that McCain was trying to divorce the doctrine of the Bush administration and move himself into the remit of sensible Republicanism. Since the 2008 election it has been unfortunate to witness the Republican Party regress as a political party and move towards more radical movements, as is clear with the rise of the Tea Party. The Tea Party represent something dangerous, something fictitious and are well in range of causing serious harm to U.S. political discourse, they are the racist Grandmother who doesn't really know what she is saying but we ignore her and put up with it, unfortunately people are listening to the Tea Party as they are making use of pathos and emotive language to sell to the U.S. electorate a false ideal. When times are hard radicals will rise and it is understandable that in economic hardship people want answers but it can't be remedied through a contemporary white supremacist movement, who don't despise Obama for his ideology but instead because of his race.
Barack Obama's appointment has caused this irrational shift in the Republican Party's politics. This is made apparent by the lackluster poll rating of Republican presidential candidate John Huntsman, who is a realistic and sane candidate for the U.S. Presidency -- he will not take the God crusade or call upon fake ideals, instead he is discussing the Obama adminstration's economic agenda. John Huntsman could have been the face of new Republicanism and may have given Middle America a credible alternative to Barack Obama.
It is obvious that Barack Obama is the only candidate worth voting for at the next election but it is a terrible shame that John Huntsman has been sounded out by the loud voice of white right wing fascists, instead the Republicans will have to make-do with a gun toting, God loving and ultra-Conservative candidate -- Romney 2012.
