At his $100,000 per plate fundraiser in Brentwood, I confronted Arnold Schwarzenegger about takin the soap on the rope -- a symbol for the November California ballot measure Proposition 89, a public financing reform in the world's fifth largest economy.

As the video tape shows, he rejected my offer. But many of his donors were a lot more open.

Proposition 89 is the recall of cash register politics in California, then the nation. It's backed by the gutsy California Nurses Association and faces a David vs. Goliath war with every special interest in the state -- from the Chamber of Commerce to the California Teachers Association. Well, when every stakeholder in America is against you, you can bet it's a significant reform. That includes Schwarzenegger, who once claimed he wanted to clean up special interest politics, but yesterday said he opposed public financing.

American political establishment and Arnold Schwarzenegger watch out! You can follow the clean up campaign at DirtyMoneyWatch.org
