Networking is an essential part of growing your personal brand and gaining visibility for your company if you're an entrepreneur or small business owner. There are plenty of untapped business resources within your own neighborhood waiting for you to seize. Business relationships can be formed at anytime and anywhere there's a person with a pulse. The person you meet at the grocery store could help you land your next big client.

Although online networking has become instrumental in the way we cultivate and leverage connections, it will never replace the meaningful bonds we forge from face-to-face interaction. Nurture an extensive network within your own community, and then be bold enough to ask for the sale.

Volunteer in the Community
Volunteering for conferences and community events will extensively expand your network. Giving back to your neighbor indicates that your company is multidimensional and interested in more than just bottom line revenue dollars. Even if you don't have children, consider volunteering at your local school or community center to lend a helping hand. Although the activity might not directly contribute to revenue, you're still investing in society's future. It's a win-win for both parties. If you show love to your community, your community will reciprocate the love to your organization.

Join a Co-working Space
Co-working promotes sharing workspace and collaborating with other like-minded people. It's an ideal option if you're a solopreneur or startup without a traditional brick and mortar location. Many great partnerships have been formed from using co-working spaces. Remember when you were in grade school, the person you sat next to often became your best friend?

Become a Member of a Local Networking Group
The old adage is true: "Your network determines your net worth." Connect with a group of people in your area that share your passion and enthusiasm for business. Find a local business networking meetup where professionals in complementary industries leverage their personal relationships to help each other grow. If one doesn't exist, then take the initiative and create one.

Ask for the sale.

Relationships are critical to building and operating a successful business. After nurturing the relationship with members of the community, don't be afraid to directly ask for the sale. People are more likely to consider your services if they know, like, and trust you.
