Nader: Sharpest Guy in the Room

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

It's no surprise that Ralph Nader makes more sense than anyone else in politics. What's surprising is that, at 74, he is as smart and as principled as ever. Watch the video. It was recorded last week in San Francisco at The Commonwealth Club of California and runs a little more than an hour. Skip the first four minutes and forgive the production values. You'll also need some patience. The interviewer starts by going over old ground (i.e. the 2000 election). The good stuff begins about eight minutes in and then sails on right through to the end.

The embedded video has been working on and off. If it isn't working, click this link. It may work that way. Keep your fingers crossed.

thanks!

you should see what he has to say at a recent National Press Conference with the other liberty-loving candidates (first time in history).

Ralph Nader is smart - if you don't know anything about politics, or understand how business, economics, or culture operate. If you don't know any of that, the guy's brilliant.

Business.

Profits over people can mean unsafe products going into the marketplace, and people need protection (sometimes) from this. Ralph fought for safer cars.

Economics.

Nader predicted last week that the corporate welfare handout for Wall street would not solve the crisis. He was right, now our nation is $700 billion dollars poorer. Democrats and Republicans helped create the crisis, and forced a bad solution on us with fear tactics.

Culture.

Cultures that evolve, change and learn do so because they are eager for the truth, not inclined to fear induced group think, and they always question the status quo and authority.
Fanatical Democrats who attack Nader, kill debate, and collude with Republicans to perpetuate the two party system do not by definition, support culture.

Actually, if you don't know anything about politics, business, economics, and culture, McCain and Obama are the ones who seem brilliant. To appreciate what makes Ralph Nader such an amazing individual and to understand why his positions on issues are so superior to those held by the major party candidates requires knowledge in the areas you indicated and some intelligence.
