Hands Up! Step Away From the Fridge!

She didn't know what she was looking for, but whatever it was, we were both pretty much positive that she wouldn't find it in the fridge.

MaryJo confessed that frequently, throughout the day and sometimes into the night, she visits her refrigerator, tugging on its door -- opening and closing it -- peering into the vegetable bins and sometimes the freezer.

On occasion, she even gets down low on her knees and looks behind the almost empty bottles of ketchup, mustard and mayo.

"What are you looking for?" I asked.

She didn't know, but whatever it was, we were both pretty much positive that she wouldn't find it in the fridge.

We talked a bit and brainstormed and came up with a simple idea that helped her to stop this mindless and somewhat upsetting habit.

MaryJo put up signs on the fridge and cabinets that asked, "What are you looking for?" As soon as she saw the sign, she smiled and walked out of the kitchen.

All was working brilliantly until one day when MaryJo sadly reported to me that she was back to mindlessly staring into the fridge.

"What happened?" I asked. "Aren't the signs working for you any longer?"

To which she replied, "Oh, they fell down."

If your signs fall down, please -- put them back up!

Sometimes it's that simple!

Evolve. Don't just improve.
