Arizona lawmakers gave final passage to three anti-abortion bills Tuesday afternoon, including one that declares pregnancies in the state begin two weeks before conception. The...
Here's the problem that RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has: Mitt Romney, all but confirmed as the GOP's nominee for president, is standing on the wrong...
At this time last year, GOP-controlled state legislatures across the U.S. were passing a record number of laws restricting women's access to reproductive health care....
There is nothing in the mandate that forces the religious to take contraceptives or to condone contraception. It's a requirement that anti-contraception communities accept the practices of other communities, like the Amish having to accept that not everyone else travels in a horse-drawn buggy.
Wow. Glad to see so many judgments flying around from folks who have obviously never set one foot in Arizona. Is this law crazy? Yep. Do many Arizonans realize that? Absolutely. And for those saying it's only going to get worse... I've been told by someone working on the Obama campaign that AZ is actually in play. Which, truth be told, doesn't surprise me. We're growing bluer by the day, and Brewer's going to be sorry sometime soon.
So, how about instead of spewing hate and acting like we're all a bunch of backwater rednecks, consider the fact that REAL people live in Arizona who are very much affected and outraged by these laws?

The new "Occupy." Occupy Arizona...except, do it in New Mexico or California, because if you are IN the state, they could get you for abortion/miscarriage for simply having your period. I say, all the women who live in AZ, should move away. See what happens then!

The AZ bill does NOT say life starts before conception. It merely defines "gestational age" as dated from the woman's last menstrual period (which is typically 2 weeks before conception), which is exactly how the entire US medical profession defines it.
I really wish the liberal blogosphere would quit misrepresenting something that is outrageous enough in terms of what it actually does do: prohibit abortions after 20 weeks gestational age, impose a 24 hour waiting period (in a state where many women live hundreds of miles from a provider), and require the same sort of ideological "counseling" that other conservative states have been imposing.
Let's leave the straw men and "truthiness" to the right. The AZ legislature provides plenty of material for both outrage and mockery with what they REALLY legislate.

I take it you are from AZ. Serious question. Has it always been this wacky there or is it the influx of seniors over the years? I would like to retire to a warmer clime some time, but having second thoughts about AZ.

i say we need a no confidence vote for the entire group and start over.
