I had the pleasure of having my camera invited to the 2012 Academy Awards. Although it's not the most compelling television show in the world, it is historical. Here's a selection of images from this year's red carpet and from the deadline photo room.

There on a bench 10 feet high, we sat and waited as the award winners came back with their trophies to be photographed. It is a lesson in patience and survival in the close quarters the Academy allows each butt on that bench. But the pictures are priceless and this take is a fun, candid look at a stuffy institution.
