Eva Longoria: WGA Picket Crosser, or Strike Supporter? Depends on Which Media Outlet You Buy

Amazing, ain't it, the calisthenics some media outlets will go to to kiss celebrity ass (especially when that celebrity ass has been featured in a string bikini on a Maxim billboard visible from space).
An email blast from TV Guide this afternoon offered this tidbit about lad-mag favorite and ABC employee Eva Longoria:

Things got a little ugly Tuesday when Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria decided to cross the picket lines and go to work rather than show her support for the WGA writers like many other A-listers have done. The actress tried to play nice at the end of the day by buying lunch for the picketers... but clearly no one wanted any of her "blood pizza."

So, what do you get when you follow the link to the video close up? The ass-kissing I promised earlier. I mean, I'm not one to bait and switch... leave that to E! News, from E Online, which offers the following copy on the page that hosts the video that TV Guide describes as Longoria getting heckled by picketing writers:

I don't know what the video actually shows, because each time I've attempted to download the video from this page it only results in an endless "loading" page. But the safe money says TV Guide's description of the full scene from the picket line is far more accurate than the (ostensible) celebrity-pampering half-truth from "over-exposed glamour girls can do no wrong" network, E!.

(By the way, this may be a bit of a tangent, but every time I think of Eva Longoria, I think of her topping those ridiculous lad-mag "Hot 100" lists -- which then makes me think of the most fabulous young feminist projects around: the REAL Hot 100, which redefines "hot" to include young women speaking out, making change and improving their communities and their world. And I'd love the project just as much even if they didn't honor several WIMN's Voices bloggers as "real hotties" in their first annual "real hot list" in 2006...)

I hope the writers retaliate against Eva Longoria for crossing the picket line by giving her dumb dialog and ridiculous storylines on "Deperate Housewives." Ooops! I forgot.... She already has dumb dialog and ridculous storylines! In this case, the writer's best revenge would be to pen crafty and intelligent dialog for Eva that actually requires ACTING! Then we'll see if the Maxim hottie is more than a pretty face.
