Revolution Is Actually Condensed Evolution.

Whenever we resist or suppress or stifle any natural form of growth or progression. Inevitably it will stack up and sooner or later generate some kind of a reaction, sometimes like an explosion, which is of course exactly what revolution is. It's when change tries to happen very very quickly, sometimes too quickly. Evolution is trying to catch up with itself, something has been out of balance... something is not okay.

We usually think about revolution in the context of cultural, social and political reform and upheaval. We think about it as something external, but you know revolution can also take place internally. And I guarantee that whether we are talking about an internal revolution or an external revolution it will be emotionally driven and fueled by highly charged emotional energy. Revolution is a response to a situation, or a process, where either a collective group of people, or an individual person, or an event or a situation, has been stifled, inhibited or forcibly held back. Eventually, sooner or later, something will give.

Human beings are naturally highly tuned emotionally, or at least that is the way that we start and we are designed to grow. From the moment of our conception we are in a continual state of growth, a process of natural evolution. And we are designed to grow not only in our mind and in our body, but also emotionally.

We are 100 percent relational and in a continual state of relationship. Our emotions are always on line, giving us a continual flow of information that shapes us and fuels us. At a very core level of experience, however logical we may think we are, our emotions are entwined into every aspect of our being including our physical experience. We only have to look at a new born baby to see this. A tiny baby will let you know in no uncertain terms how they're feeling. If they are happy and content then we really know about it. And if they're unhappy we really know about it. They physically demonstrate to us exactly what they're feeling. They are not experiencing life through their mind, or through their thoughts, but through physical and emotional experience entwined.

This relationship between physical and emotional experience continues throughout our lives. Our emotions are always informing us... and directing us.

As we get older we learn to interpret the way that we feel and we learn to channel our emotional energy in ways that are acceptable or indeed required within the tribe and the culture that we are living in and these external influences shape the way that our minds develop, defining the way that we perceive, interpret and respond to our life experiences.

To be in charge of our own decision making we will need to be in charge of our own mind. To be in charge of our own mind we will need to have a fully informed and valuable relationship with ourselves, an informed and valuable relationship with our emotional experience.

The meeting of our mind with our emotions is a powerful relationship, and in your adult life this relationship will be the most influential and significant relationship that you will ever have. Our emotions are designed to fuel growth and to fuel understanding, our emotions are informing us all of the time, they are integral to our natural growth and evolution.

When revolution takes place, something has reached its breaking point.

Revolution is a response to a situation, or a process, where either a collective group of people, or an individual person, or an event or a situation, has been stifled, inhibited or forcibly held back. Eventually, sooner or later, something will give. If we learn to suppress, deny, hide, stifle or indeed misdirect our emotions then we stifle our natural evolutionary growth and eventually, sooner or later, something will give. When internal revolution takes place the relationship between our mind and our emotions breaks down... We become reactive rather than responsive... We are no longer in charge of our powerful emotionally fueled energy.

We experience break down. Human beings are 100% relational and we are in a continual state of relationship all of the time. The way that we are responded and related to at this point in time can make the difference between someone having "a breakdown"... or "a breakthrough". Our emotions are invisible and yet powerful beyond measure. People can appear to be just fine on the outside, and yet inside they could be feeling completely the opposite. We can be in a place of absolute despair, desperation and distress or rage but may be terrified of showing how we really feel. To some extent most of us will have learned to hide something of what we feel, even from ourselves.

Learning to listen and be responsive to our emotions is possibly the biggest generational task that we face in our current time. It is both a challenge and an extraordinary opportunity. The potential consequences are massive. We live in the shadow of revolutionary action, and emotionally charged reaction. We live in the shadow of emotional confusion and trauma and we can see it being re-enacted all around us in both large and small scale events, in social and cultural attitudes and in the actions of individuals.

The honesty and congruence of our relationship with ourselves will determine the shape of our adult lives and the shape and direction of our actions and therefore the shape of the world that we live in.

Change will always start from within.
