While many people were focused on the Seahawks and Patriots during this Super Bowl, there were many other parts of the game setting off Fireworks. I was fixated on the most important part -- the fine, fresh and fierce halftime show featuring Katy Perry. Even better than the actual show was the frenzied speculation going on about almost every aspect of her performance. Multiple sites asked everything from what the pop star would sing first to the color of her hair. The pure geniuses that make life more entertaining for the rest of us saw the odds lining up like this:

The most mundane polling asked what Perry would sing first. The smart money seemed to be on "Firework" and "Roar." Runner ups included "This is How We Do," "Dark Horse" and "Wide Awake," as well as "ET." The big long-shot coming in at 20-1 is "Waking Up in Vegas."

The more daring questions dealt with how Perry would look and the guesswork conjured up a perfect storm. The leading hypothesis was that Katy would come out with either a dress or skirt on, but would have 2.5 costume changes. The possibility of a Janet Jackson style wardrobe malfunction came out to be to 22-1. Most importantly, the odds were stacked 18-1 that Katy Perry would come out sporting a whipped cream bikini -- that might have fulfilled some of your Teenage Dreams. Hair color also seemed to be a hot item of interest. With the likelihood of 2-1, speculators believed the celebrity would rock some all-natural black or brown hair (maybe not all natural), with a chance of pink or red as a close second. People guessed she would not be showing much cleavage, but I think, if not cleavage, she would show a bit of something else.

Clearly there's a lot more to this game than touchdowns and tackles. So even if the game turned out to be deflating, I hope you made sure to stay Wide Awake to see who the real winners were.
