Tough Job Ahead For Whoever Takes Helm Of Disastrous New Jersey Nets

What's Your Reaction?

Even though the Nets ultimately still plan to leave New Jersey, it promises to be a long goodbye, which leaves the Garden State somewhat invested in the success of the team if only because - like it or not - the reputation of a professional sports franchise impacts the reputation of its home state. So after an 0-16 start it was good news this weekend that the Nets fired coach Lawrence Frank. That did not change the team overnight, as the Nets notched another loss under a brighter spotlight in Los Angeles.

Longtime Star-Ledger Nets beat writer Dave D'Alessandro posted his analysis of the choices before the organization and the tough job ahead of whoever ultimately takes the helm of a Nets season "consigned into history as a disaster." Read all of what D'Alessandro has to say about the Nets coaching situation on NJ.com.

Um, excuse me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it not so long ago that the Nets were the best team in the eastern conference? Do you think in just a few short years the Nets ownership simply forgot what it takes to field a solid, competitve NBA team?
Because I for one don't think it's possible to forget in such a short time. So it must have been some other factor that would allow the team's management to let the club go from first to worst. I don't believe it's simple incompetence.
