After admitting to his involvement in the screening of the paranoid anti-Muslim film The Third Jihad as a counter-terrorism training tool for at least 1,500 NYPD officers in 2010, Commissioner Ray Kelly defended his decision as "the only way to finally tamp down the pro-Islamic fervor that had taken root in the Department and proliferated like kudzu ever since the 9/11 attacks."

Kelly characterized the use of the notorious film for training purposes as "fighting fire with fire," and said he was "tired of forever competing with the wisdom of the Koran" when arguing for more ruthless tactics with the city's solidly Catholic counter-terrorism task force.

Neither member of the NYPD's Islamic affinity group, "2 Muslims in Law Enforcement," could be reached for comment.
