"If I Die, You Die": The Cowboys & Aliens Interviews: Harrison Ford

Posted: 06/28/11 03:32 PM ET

"If I die, you die." That's what Harrison Ford said to me when I sat next to him in his helicopter and inquired where the co-pilot was. I still can't believe that I'm working with all of these great people from Ron Howard to Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Brian Grazer, Daniel Craig and a wealth of talent both behind and in front of the camera. The experience of making this movie was as thrilling as the movie itself.

Many years ago I hosted a show called Dinner For Five and would dream of a table of this caliber. Instead of having the traditional EPK interviews, I offered to conduct some myself. What resulted were conversations that not only included the process of making Cowboys and Aliens, but also segued into larger conversations about the rich experiences these individuals have had in their careers. In this spirit, I present to you the first installment of "The Cowboys & Aliens Interviews."

First interview I've seen with Ford where he didn't look miserable to be there. Any he smiled to boot. Congrats, JF.

Dinner for Five was a very interesting show.
Ford is getting long in the tooth.

Glad you survived the helicopter ride with your bowels intact. I'm sure Harrison was too.

Great to see Harrison Ford so engaged in an interview. This is going to be one of those increasingly rare flicks that works to bring the joy back into the movie theater.

I loved his explanation on why 3-D sucks and CGI sucks. Seemed a bit of a rip on Lucas and the last Indy movie.

Wow. Usually when Harrison Ford does an interview he's monosyllabic. This version of him is charming, warm and open. Nice.

Because he's talking about the work, not himself.

Harrison Ford is just as charming and articulate as one would imagine. Thanks for the delightful interview.

It's not a sequel, reboot, remake, or in 3D, so it's already well ahead of today's Hollywood curve. Daniel Craig, Sam Rockwell, Walt Goggins, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde??? Are you kidding me? Sci-fi is among my least favorite genres, but I'll watch this if only because Jon Favreau is directing and this is a lights-out cast.

Daniel Craig--get back to the Bond films! We enjoy everything you do but people need their Bond fix!

Tell it to the MGM bankruptcy attorneys who have been holding up all the property (films).

Like the line from "Jaws"..."All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks...and hold up movies."

I believe work on the next Bond film has resumed--at least preliminary stuff. I might be wrong about that but I seem to remember reading an article about it recently. It seems to me the only logical choice right now is to remake Goldfinger, though I generally despise remakes.
