The Cowboys & Aliens Interviews: Olivia Wilde Has a Hard Head

Posted: 07/12/11 07:05 PM ET

That's what the doctor at the ER said after she was thrown from a horse on the set of Cowboys & Aliens and bounced back without missing a beat. She was as tough as they come. She was one of the most experienced riders in the cast and volunteered to try whatever the stunt team deemed safe, including a cable pull from a crane out of the saddle, mid-gallop.

In this third installment of the Cowboys & Aliens Interviews, I sat with Olivia Wilde whom I got to know very well over the course of the movie. These conversations are a snapshot of what life is like for a star on the rise. This is one of those wonderful moments where you get a sense of who a person is developing into at the cusp of a prolific career. We cover a variety of topics including not only her growing body of work but also where her passions lie outside of show business.

Charming young lady. Too bad she hooked up with this clunker of a movie.

Its fun to hear celebrities when they aren't doing their 'serious TV acting' voices. When they aren't whispering or growling or talking under her breath like action heroes. I doubt we'll hear that loud laugh of hers (that finished the clip) in a film any time soon.

I like her better with shorter hair.

Jon, I love that you do this. It gives the viewer a look into the film they might otherwise not have. I was a big fan of "Dinner for Five" where you did the same thing very nicely.

If the directing thing doesn't work out (not bloddy likely), you'd be a terrific interviewer.

Thanks for keeping us entertained. You're the man. Break a leg with CBAA.

They both seem very likeable and grounded. And it's nice to see Olivia Wilde talking about her work in Haiti. I'm sure other stars would be shouting from the rooftops at every opportunity in an attempt to make themselves look good.

I have heard that she is a very kind woman. That is always good to hear!

I'm surprised at the scarce comments. I do think his presentation has leaned a little to the romanticized fortune-teller side.

People just want to know what's up on this stuff, a good majority of the time.

The whimsy sounds off a little eulogical.
