Dennis Kucinich Makes History Again -- Impeach Bush!

Representative Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, just finished reading on the House floor a 35-count impeachment resolution against President George W. Bush. Kucinich's lengthy and detailed indictment of this wayward president is the most thorough and powerful case made to date. He outlined a litany of high crimes and misdemeanors and showed without a shadow of a doubt that George W. Bush deserves to be impeached and removed from office. Kucinich made clear that Bush has violated his oath of office and his Constitutional duty that the laws be "faithfully executed."

Kucinich's impeachment resolution comes after the shocking revelations contained in the 107-page Senate Intelligence Committee's report that confirmed, once and for all, (and with the vote of two Republican Senators), that President Bush lied the American people into war. There can be no more dire and serious offense than a president lying to his fellow Americans on issues of war and peace. Bush should be impeached forthwith. The House Judiciary Committee should vote on the Kucinich resolution and split it up into Articles of Impeachment. All the committee needs is one Article to impeach Bush, Kucinich has provided dozens of potential Articles.

I've agreed all along with the Center for Constitutional Rights and other groups on the need to impeach Bush. It is not a "political" issue; it is a Constitutional issue. He must be impeached and removed from office even if the proceedings don't start until January. The Democrats chickened out on impeachment when they took the Congress in January 2007. That was the most disillusioning decision of the 110th Congress -- taking impeachment "off the table." It was also giving the Congress's consent to Bush's behavior.

People will scream about how impeachment might backfire on the election of 2008. But that was never the issue. The president is guilty of grave crimes against the republic and should be held accountable. He does not have to be found guilty in a court of law; impeachment has a different standard. Bush has committed crimes against the nation. There are 4,100 dead Americans and 500,000 to 1 million dead Iraqis as a result of his lies and deceit. The Scott McClellan book just drives home everything the Intelligence Committee uncovered. It is time for the truth! If Bush can keep the prospect of attacking Iran "on the table," then the Congress should keep impeachment on the table too.

Thank you Dennis Kucinich. You once again demonstrated that you are the most courageous and principled member of Congress.

Kucinich votes to sent his own measure to committee, effectively throwing it out!

"the most thorough and powerful case made to date."

That's not saying much!

"He ... showed without a shadow of a doubt that George W. Bush deserves to be impeached and removed from office. Kucinich made clear that Bush has violated his oath of office and his Constitutional duty that the laws be 'faithfully executed'."

In your dreams. Of course, if it were you leftists talking, you'd be calling this a "wet dream".

But I say go for it. Seriously. It'd be political suicide for the entire party, which I'd love to see. But it won't happen. The Dem leaders are not quite as out of touch with reality as you are.

Pelosi will need to be impeached as well for Dennis to progress. Then all the Democrats, then all the republicans. Communism is looking good right now. Vote Socialist.

Thank god someone is writing about this. Why isn't Kucinich a VP candidate? Any democrat who doesn't support Kucinich's attempts to impeach Bush is a, well, a very bad name that I couldn't get away with posting in this forum. It's Congress' job to hold check and balance executive power. It is their duty to hold the president accountable. Now they have a smoking gun in the form of Senate Intelligence Committee's report. Dems and Republicans that care about the state of the country should rally around Kucinich. Yet, the MSM has ignored the article's of impeachment, and only one blogger on Huff Post has even mentioned it. I had to search "Kucinich" to find anything written about this.

Dennis Kucinich & Robert Wexler do the right thing for the people and for the restoration of the US Constitution, and from the rest of congress we get...silence.

And sadest of all is the news that Obama wants nothing to do with this effort....

I will vote for Obama in November, but...this distinguishes him from from the cowardice of Pelosi & Reid--how, exactly?

I just received this message [partial] from congressman Robert Wexler:

"Our effort to hold the Bush/Cheney Administration accountable has taken another
dramatic step forward. Last night, Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced the first
Articles of Impeachment ever to be introduced against President Bush. It includes,
in total, thirty-five Articles detailing this Administration's blatant abuse of
power. Today, I enthusiastically co-sponsored this vitally important bill.

"I am grateful for Dennis' leadership on this issue and for the steadfast support
that countless Americans have given to both of our efforts to redeem our government
and expose the crimes of Bush and Cheney.

"I will now expand my efforts to secure impeachment hearings in the Judiciary
Committee for these new Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.

"Many of the charges against President Bush are well known – and would shock the
conscience of everyday Americans if only the national media would be willing to
report on these stark facts."

Great Comments, without impeachment the next president and the one after that is going to think it is normal to stomp on the Constitution, a very bad precedent -- even if it fails, it must be attempted.

The Speaker of the House is incompetent..
To say that some thing is ‘off the table’ is to imply ‘above the law’.
Justice is never off the table, Ms. Pelosi, unless we have become a nation
where such is the case. And as long as our antiquated democratic system
allows individuals like yourself in power, we will become such a nation.

Please folks, the Democrats in Congress are not spineless wimps for taking impeachment "off the table."

They are complicit with the current administration. They agree on the objectives, if not always the methods, and they are beholden to the same moneyed interests.

The Democrats, along with their Republican colleagues, had been enthusiastically selling us out long before impeachment was taken "off the table."

Most likely, they will continue to do so, regardless of the outcome of the coming election, one in which much of the counting of the votes has been privatized.

Most politicians today, Republican or Democrat, either believe in or go along with the corporate/government partnership approach to global governance.

We are transitioning to some sort of global fascism. Democrats are on board, same as the Republicans. They want an Imperial Presidency and American dominance of the world because they believe that a corporate/government partnership is the best way to deal with consumers. Not Citizens, but consumers. Consumers are not allowed to impeach.

The pathway to fascism is paved with incompetence, and the antiquated notion that “All are created equal”. All may be created equal, but they do not stay that way. Let sub-primes into financials and you get a real depression threat on your hands. Do the same in politics and we reap endless political depression.

Until votes in this country are weighed according to citizenship status, time in country, community service, criminal record, education, and age, our political depression will continue.

"Until votes in this country are weighed according to citizenship status, time in country, community service, criminal record, education, and age, our political depression will continue."

You have clearly lost your mind; all of the concepts you listed are unquestionably in direct opposition to a democratic government. We don't have one as things are now--we'd have even less of one if we applied your recommendations.

I'm not sure what form of government that would constitute, but you can rest assured that the majority of Americans would resist such notions, and are quite right to do so.

"Consumers are not allowed to impeach."

BRILLIANT! Thank you, breakfast, for a wonderful observation - but still, we, as "citizens" must continue to push and prod our elected officials, while we still have some vestment of Democracy left!

For those of you who do not have your noses in the news, and are not news junkies, or you may not even know or even care what is going on in this world…… Then go ahead and sit at the gas pump and wonder. Will we continue blood for oil?

Last night, Ohio Representative Mr. Dennis Kucinich put into the Congressional Record thirty-five impeachable offenses of George W. Bush and his administration. This was on C-Span and our lousy new services and the press will not have reported it to you yet. Thus keeping you the public ignorant and unable to respond.

It is often said, that we deserve the government we get because we do not stand up and support those we believe in.

Mr. Kucinich read for three hours and 20 minutes this indictment, uninterrupted, in a most elegant manner where he stated clearly with documentable evidence, each impeachable offense of this administration

I called Mr. Kucinich’s office this morning and I thanked him for his unswerving service to the people. He is a man of principal and he and many others are trying to bring to light the truth about this war and have justice prevail.

Of course, your views are your own and for that, I say hallelujah.

However, for those of you brave enough, here is his telephone number in Washington, DC:

There are four things you can do right now to support him and to make this happen.

1. I ask that you PLEASE contact Rep. Kucinich and thank him for his leadership and patriotism. Please take a moment and give him a call and show your support. You can call his DC office at this number (202)225-5871.

2. Contact Speaker Pelosi at this number and ask her for her support and action. You can call her DC office at this number 202-225-0100.

3. Contact both of your Senators and your Representative and let them know you support this. You can search for all of your US elected officials by entering your zip code at www.votesmart.org.

4. You can go to democrats.com and see the news on this. You can sign a variety of petitions there.

I was watching CNN the other day and they showed a clip of Wolf Blitzer interviewing George W. Bush (January 10, 2000) - a full 11 months before the now infamous "election". Bush was talking about Iraq. My blood started to chill when I realized I'd heard all the words before - right after 9/11, when suddenly Iraq had to be "dealt with".
