I'm talking remote. Not TV remote (some of these hotels don't even have 'em), but way out there remote, because there's nothing quite like doing a 360° and seeing nothing but nature. Travel times vary, but mind-blowing vistas are a guarantee.

Nimmo Bay, British Columbia
Within the world's largest temperate rainforest where white Kermode bears roam, this all-inclusive seaside resort is only accessible by air or water, and their helicopter fleet will take you farther to glaciers, waterfalls and uninhabited islands, with gourmet picnic in hand.

Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado
A mining ghost town embedded in the Colorado Rockies gets a second life as rugged luxury resort of 21 individual cabins. Survey the land on horseback, soak in one of six hot springs pools, fly fish the rivers, rustle up a drink at the saloon--pleasure is booming.

Petit St. Vincent Resort, Caribbean
Off the grid on its own private island in the Caribbean, the property's 22 cottages are spaced out along beaches and bluffs for maximum privacy. To encourage unplugging, there are no phones, TVs or Internet, but there are scores of hammocks for swinging the day away.

Eremito - Hotelito del Alma, Italy
The words remote and Italy aren't typically associated, but this hermitage-turned-hotel deep in the Umbrian countryside brings the two together. Its stone-walled rooms connected by candlelit hallways feel a touch Game of Thrones, only there's no drama here, just peace and quiet and pasta.

Wolwedans Dunes Lodge, Namibia

North Island, Seychelles
The largest island in Seychelles is an eco-reserve with but one namesake resort on it. Its 11 villas are all at once rustic and sumptuously sprawling, each with their own garden, plunge pool, outdoor shower and beach access. If it's good enough for Prince William and Kate Middleton's honeymoon....

Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives
Every Maldivian island feels a world away, but particularly Villingili, a piece of the southernmost Addu Atoll, where it's all Shangri-La all the time. All villas too, ones tucked amongst the trees, on the beach or over-the-water with liquid turquoise as far as the eye can see.

Saffire Freycinet, Australia
In Cole's Bay on Tasmania's East Coast, Saffire Freycinet was designed to reflect the vast natural expanse that surrounds it, most strikingly exemplified in the curvature of the main building. The region may be rugged, but the property is set-up to pamper with fine dining, spa treatments and unique experiences.

Méridien Ile des Pins, New Caledonia
The tiny dot on a tilted exclamation mark made with the main island, New Caledonia's Ile de Pins ("Isle of the Pines") is a paradise of pine trees, coconut groves and blue lagoons. Méridien has 15 hectares to hide its bungalows in, but the paths to the beach are easily found.
