Shining Star -- Eminem

Ditching the drugs can have its perks! Besides achieving (hopefully) a clearer state of mind, rap star Eminem has also captured a whopping 10 Grammy nominations.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, led the Grammy Award nods when they were announced on Wednesday. His latest album, Recovery, which was nominated for Album of the Year, chronicled his struggle to kick a nasty, five-year drug habit.

In October, he told 60 Minutes how he nearly died from his addiction to painkillers: "If I would have got to the hospital two hours later, that would have been it. 'Cause my organs, everything, my kidneys, everything were failing. Everything was shutting down," The Detroit-born entertainer says he's been sober for two years.

While his lyrics still aren't too clean (listen to his expletive-laced rap on Nicki Minaj's "Roman's Revenge", if you dare) being clean is definitely putting Em's career back on track.

Falling Star -- Kate Gosselin

And here I thought once her TLC show, Kate Plus Eight, tanked, we'd never have to hear from her again. How wrong I was!

Kate Gosselin wormed her way back into the headlines this week, declaring that despite the fact that two of her eight children apparently suffer from "anger issues," being on reality T.V. is, like, totally great for them!

Gosselin appeared on The Today Show on Wednesday to deny reports that daughter Alexis and son Collin, both 6, were expelled from their private school. The failed Dancing with the Stars contestant instead insisted that she and the kids' school "mutually agreed" to pull the kids out of class and home school them. Ummm, OK then!

Blaming the kids' problems on her divorce from Jon Gosselin, the baby-making machine proclaimed that putting her troubled children on television is in "their best interest." Gosselin told Today Show host Meredith Vieira, "I'm working while they're by my side enjoying life and traveling, and that is not only providing us trips of a lifetime, but it's providing for their future." She even called her reality T.V. experience "nothing but positive."

Nothing but positive? Only one thing is positive -- Gosselin is positively obsessed with the limelight.
